Why It Matters

Growing Puerto Rico's Food Sovereignty, One Harvest at a Time.

Much of the produce sold on the island is imported from thousands of miles away — and once it leaves its country of origin, there’s no way to know for certain what herbicides or pesticides were used to grow it.

At Spring Water Gardens, we’re working to change that by growing high-quality organic food right here in Puerto Rico, strengthening the island’s ability to feed itself instead of depending on what arrives on a container ship.

Our produce may cost a little more than what you’ll find imported at the store. We think that’s a fair trade for food grown organically, watered with natural spring water, and harvested by hand — some of the purest produce you’ll find on the island.

Yes — in addition to Mayagüez, we serve Las Marías and the surrounding towns of West Puerto Rico. Confirm current pickup and delivery coverage for your town when you subscribe.
Imported produce often travels a long way before it reaches Puerto Rico, and there’s no way to know for certain what herbicides or pesticides were used to grow it. Ours is grown organically right here on the farm, watered with spring water, and harvested by hand — so it may cost a little more, but it’s some of the purest produce available on the island.
